1. Sarah Vowell and Dennis Quaid are cast as the romantic leads of a new movie. You're inventing the premise. GO.
High action sci-fi adventure with massive CGI budget - Day of the Tortoise!
Plot synopsis: An advanced force of aliens lands in Wyoming disguised as box turtles. Quaid is the jokey handsome over-the-hill cattleman in the white hat, who is struggling to keep his family-owned ranch in business, and prove to himself he is still relevant in the age of the Internet. Vowell plays the brilliant-but-lonely herpetologist sent to investigate the increase in turtle-related traffic accidents in the area around Centennial.
At odds at first, when they discover the armor-plated aliens dark secret, how can they convince the townspeople of the danger? Can they overcome their own hard emotional shells and find love?
Opening Christmas 2009
2. What state of disarray would our modern educational system be in were it not for baking soda volcanoes?
Well, there'd be crime and violence in schools, teachers would be underpaid, metal detectors at the doors, armed guards, kids on shooting sprees and .... hey, wait a minute. Those baking soda volcanoes have been totally laying down on the job!
3. If a tree fell in the woods and you were around to hear it, which sordid caption would you carve into its trunk?
I was going to make an erectile dysfunction joke, but I'll refrain. Why make the poor tree feel worse than it already does. *pats tree comfortingly*
4. A local café near your home wishes to add a bec_87rb sandwich to their menu. How would you design said sandwich?
Toasted wheat. Brown mustard on one slice, yellow on the other, both very thin coating. Layer of thinly sliced radish. Layer of fried Lebanon baloney. Layer of hard cucumber, such as the kind small pickles are made from. Presentation on a small white plate with a half of a hard boiled pickled egg and a spring of parsley as garnee, and dot of horseradish. A round or two of fresh ground pepper sprinkled over all.
Served with scalding hot, light-roast coffee.
5. How did you ever wind up on LiveJournal?
A friend of mine, much younger at heart than I, suggested it. When I found they had a tmbg community, I stuck around for that, because the fan community is fascinating. I have blogspot and myspace subscriptions to which I never post.
