Five Foot Tall African American Corn Ear sighted on Capitol Hill

Oh joy! I was chatting with the boss whilst exiting the Metro, and among the leaflet wranglers were two ladies handing out info-ganda on ethanol from corn. One was a short young black lady dressed beautifully as a jolly ear of corn, all bright green and yellow foam. Her face was visible as a circle and her hands were free, and she was wearing dark plastic frame glasses. Almost like a nun in the order of Our Lady of the Maze or something.

"HI, CORN!" I said to her as we passed, and waved. She grinned at me. No time to stop and talk, and I wasn't sure the boss would grasp the allure of chatting up people in fantastical foam costumes.

Her reaction to my salute to her costume made me feel good. She's going to be so miserable if she's been paid to be outside today, as we're at suffocating humidity and upper 90's tempurature. I hope this was a rush hour grab at the congressional staffers as they come to work. Maybe I will see them in the Longworth this afternoon, lobbying in costume!

Democracy is sort of like a large circus sometimes. Can you hear the calliope music?
