Jonathan Edward Durham, an author whose feed the dreaded F*c*b**k algorithmically suggested to me, posted that when he starts to recycle a glass jar, his inner Crow Brain demands that, no, we must KEEP IT and PUT LITTLE SHINY TRINKETS IN IT.

I saw a video on insta or someplace saying, don't save that jar, you're not going to use it, you're just not.

I wanted to respond with a video of all those glass jars I use for evvvvveerythinggggg. But I couldn't find it again.

When we left dubai, I put them free on marketplace, maybe fifty of them. I wasn't going to throw them away. The gentleman who came to get them gushed over my generosity. They were, you know, from jelly and olives and things.

What type of larger container did he use to take away 50 smaller containers? I'm seeing a cardboard box on clinking jars held by a beaming Dubai man.

The insta advisor has a very different mental landscape, maybe. If you are bothered by a busy landscape, you are going to advise people to keep their living-space as stark and spare as possible, because when your physical spaces are austere and it makes you happy. It sighs to you about cleanliness, order, luxury, spiritual rightness, and so on.

Hee hee: I saw a de-clutter advisor telling the camera about Problem Houses with "Well, I've never been in one that didn't have a bag of bags," as an obvious symptom of their pathology and desperate need of her help. Sort of "Can you believe that?"

My first thought was, well, where do you keep your extra bags, so it's obvious where they are? A bag of bags is self-labeling, isn't it? Then I imagined having a life where I would never ever need to assemble a bag of something to take from the house. And how does she get her groceries back ( ... )
