I haven't joined the Wall Street one myself. I see too many problems with it that, yes, I could go down and help to fix, but I also won't while I'm still living off my parents' money. So, I'm job hunting and watching a bunch of friends and friends of friends participate, some have even been arrested.
It's fascinating to watch. I went down one night pretty early on to see what was going on. It was really interesting. They had a PR/press station set up around the people livestreaming, all their signs displayed so the passers by could peruse them, a small library (that I hear has grown a lot), and most people were gathered around hearing and repeating announcements. I think that has to be the most genius thing they've done. There's no amplification allowed by their permits, so whoever is speaking has to pause after every sentence/phrase to allow the crowd to repeat it back. That way they ensure everyone hears it and gets all the news or is able to understand what guest speakers are saying.
I was also jealous when I heard that Slavoj Zizek showed up and spoke. I don't fully subscribe to all his ideas, but he's an entertaining speaker (if you like them twitchy and seeming to be on coke) and probably my favorite philosopher alive.

Oh, the monty Python moments this brings up... The Sermon on the Mount, and the Follow the Gourd precursor ("You're all individuals," shouts Brian to the gathered. "We are all individuals," they parrot back in one voice. "I'm not," says one guy.)

Oh, we know Python. Our hippie parents made sure. Or we discovered them as we became hipsters. If they don't, they're sad excuses for human beings. Everyone should know Python.

Even if they don't remember Python, they know Python, as I did Ernie Kovacs and Stanley Freberg, thinking those witticisms were my daddy's very own invention.
My first introduction to him was "The Pervert's Guide to Cinema" which screened at the Seattle International Film Festival my senior year of high school. It's hard not to love him after that.
Žižek is a highly influential voice on the left. He comes out of a very European critical theory tradition, but his engagement with American pop-culture has given him quite a bit of currency in North America. And yah, between the jokes and the constant references to TV and movies, he's much more fun to read than your typical theorist. His propensity for propagating his views in front of a camera or a microphone also makes him a lot more accessible than other stodgy old Marxists.
