Yesterday, I was grabbed, hugged and kissed by a beggar. It was startling, let me tell you. It's not even the first time, and it was startling.
This morning, on the train, when I pulled out a lipstick and a compact, I noticed out of the corner of my eye a fellow commuter was repositioning his head from behind an obstructing metal pole to watch, so I applied to the top lip, and lowered my arm as if I were finished. He sat back. Then I put the lipstick back up to my lips again, and he tilted around again to look. I finished the application, put away the lipstick, and back he sat.
What, no applause? I felt he could have at least given me a "Huzzah!"
