In the late ’70s and early ’80s John L. was the keyboard player in a Providence-based band called The Mundanes. This is wonderful! To go visit a place where you made happy crazy memories, during that frenzy of hopefulness and activity that defines young men, and have the building still physically be there. Especially for a person whose professional life is long car trips, or stinky bus sojourns to a new city every night, it's poignant and symbolic to plant your wiser, tireder,middle-aged feet on that same ground for a moment, and look at it again from this far down the road. It's like time travel within your own life.
