You know, the big problem with treelawning furniture in 95 degrees Fahrenheit is sometimes you get covered in glitter. Which sticks like Gorilla Glue to your sweaty body causing you to itch like crazy. Ugh.
We have new neighbors. Sadly, the previous cool neighbors (Ryan and Katie) haved moved out. I'll miss them. Not Katie too much, since she and her bf are now living a half-block away above Parallax and I'll see her on Sundays at the new bellydance class (Maybe. More on the story of the disappearing-reappearing dance class later.) But I shall miss Ryan terribly. He's a rather strange young gay artist. He did a fantastic job landscaping the front yard, but he was supposed to landscape our backyard, and... um... he doesn't live here anymore. Hmmmm. We have piles of dirt, chunks of concrete, stacks of slate and random junk that he thought would make interesting garden sculpture scattered about the yard. It does cut down on the space that the dogs have to run. This is a bit of a problem, since we will have a new dog in the household Wednesday evening. Jer's sister Holly has decided that her dog Harry (hereafter to be called Hairy for soon-to-be-obvious reasons) would be much happier living with Sarah. Sarah's thrilled, and I'm pretty pleased too. Ever since Holly's baby was born, I've been a tad worried about the level of attention Hairy was getting. He'll be a happy dog here, and of course the fam can visit him anytime. Hairy is a rescue from the shelter, and he's a big husky-malamute mix (my guess.) He's very sweet-natured, but we'll have to keep LeRoi from making him his personal bitch. Hairy tends to be scared of little dogs, and will stand in the middle of the room, whimpering, while the little dog jumps merrily about.
So back to the main topic: Ryan's gone... and apparently told the new neighbors they could keep whatever they wanted in the house and toss the rest. Which they did. Literally. So a couple good lamps got broken, his stereo was trashed, wineglasses were smashed, and a bunch of other potentially useful stuff was buried under crap. I did managed to salvage a good couch and loveseat, which are basically wood frames with removable cushions. Which is the selling feature of the set, since they're going on Sarah's porch. Unfortunately, they are also the source of the glitter causing me much itchiness. I also snagged a beautiful large Persian-style rug for bellydance stage dressing, a small drop-leaf table, a magazine rack/endtable, and a six-drawer dresser in great shape. Now I'm in for more sweat as I shuffle everything in the bedroom around again. Ryan left most of his VHS collection in the dresser, so I reaped some decent movies I don't already have, including Mars Attacks!, Chaplin, Metropolis, RHPS, Polyester, Andy Warhol's Dracula, Being John Malkovich, Fargo, most of the first season of Twin Peaks, and a bunch I can't remember right now. By the time I was done hauling everything back up the driveway, it was nearly 9:50, and I was already late for class. At that point in time, RTA would have gotten me to school by (hopefully) 11:30. So, I decided to skip class for the day. It's not like I can understand the lecture anyway. Besides, Amy's leaving to go back to MI and I want to say good bye. So I'll walk round the corner soon and do that. Maybe after a shower.
