Yes, MRE = Major Research Essay. :P I need to not make little mistakes like that.

I'm actually in much better shape, writing a few hours later. I'm just whipping my proposal into shape. I'm going to be writing on representations of First Nations peoples on Western Canadian Postcards (mostly from the Rockies). I'm looking at them as material culture, not just images. I'm particularly interested in the messages written on them. I have a neat-o example and a better explanation here: http://historyboots.wordpress.com/2012/10/26/lets-start-talking-about-postcards-and-research-topics/

I feel better mostly because I spent about an hour trolling through Peel's Prairie Provinces and I identified about five or six postcards with neat messages on them. For example, check this one out: http://peel.library.ualberta.ca/postcards/PC002433.html On the front is written the message "Dear Teddie:- How would you like to greet this man?" I'm particularly interested in how people identify with/react to the images on postcards.

I totally understand. You have to focus so much on one thing that you end up hating it, not wanting to work on it, and make it even worse when you DO have to work on it. It happens even when the project is, say, something you chose yourself and is a really cool idea, really... you just get sick of it. :P
