summary: beginnings and endings in gravity.
Bella’s life begins, in a round-about way, with a fall.
“Oh,” Renee gasped, her foot connecting with the edge of the cafeteria table, her books and her lunch skittering across the floor, “Oh no.”
She groaned at the mess of her salad on the already dirty linoleum, turning to her salvageable belongings.
“Here, let me help you with that,” came a voice from beside her, and Renee jumped as a boy she’d never met stooped down to retrieve her biology notes and her algebra book. She was still fairly new to the town; her parents had moved them here just a month ago and she was too scatter-brained to remember any faces. Names were worse.
“Thank you,” she chirped as the boy stood, and her grin deepened when she saw his face. A real looker. Maybe there were some prospects in this soggy town after all. “I’m Renee.”
“I know,” he said without thinking, and immediately the tips of his ears turned pink. “I mean, I’m Charlie.”

Bella’s human existence ends with a fall.
“Whoops - oh no!” she breathes as the cup of blood spills across the white couch, and she bends the snatch it up.
Sudden pain.
“Oh!”
Then, blackness.
