Title: Don't Tell Daddy
Fandom: LOST
Pairing/Characters: Sun/Claire
Rating: PG
Word Count: 250
Spoilers: Up to There's No Place Like Home
Summary: There are some things Sun's father never knew.
Sun was a rebel at sixteen. Or, at least as much as she could be under daddy’s stern hand and mother’s watchful eyes.
He never knew that she smoked. Out the window, plumes of it funneling and dispersing through the air until the only evidence existed in the tiny particles sifting through the streets and the square bulge in her backpack. She’d long since quit, the smell of it lingering only on her college clothes, but she kept them so she could remember when it was different.
She hadn’t pierced her nose or died her hair pink like she’d seen in those American magazines in her twenties, after she was married and expected to raise a family and settle herself in a corner. When she’d thought that this gold on her finger and her name on a registry would be enough for her, always. But still.
He never knew she’d kissed a girl. He knew she’d had an affair, caught her red handed under scarlet sheets that had felt like a letter burned hot into her chest, but he never knew about Claire or her baby that often felt like theirs. He was clueless to this feeling in her chest, the one that stung like it was Claire that had done the leaving and not the other way around. All his money and all his “business men” couldn’t take that from her.
And even when she steals his company right out from under him, that’s the real rebellion, she thinks.
