Just a list.

1. Grad school is going well. Actually, it didn't start out this way. I really struggled in September to find my place in both classes. I received a wake up call when both professors emailed me that I had received no participation marks. Actually, the other prof just emailed to check in on me. And from that point forward I jumped right in. And I'm doing well.

2. My thesis proposal is due Dec. 15th. I know once I sit down to write it... I'll be okay. But I'm such a procrastinator. I need to get with it. I've decided that I want to do an ethnography on Burning Man, classify this community as a learning community and then focus in on the informal and formal learning. I'm actually really excited about this!

3. The weight loss thing is still happening. I started in May after grandpa past away. And here I am 6 months later and 43 pounds less. I'm past midway point for my total weight loss goal and have been learning so much about my body, fitness, nutrition and how to just enjoy food. I walk home from work 4 days a week and bike at least once a week. I hope to walk home as much as I can this winter. Even in the rain. Maybe in the snow. We shall see.

4. Probably the aspect of my life that's filled with the most joy is my romantic life. I started talking to C in July. But only for a second. And then grad school started and I put him on hold. In August we reconnected and had our first date on Sept. 5th and we've been dating ever since. Even though it's only been two months, we both recognize how happy we are... so anyway, yes, I have a boyfriend!

5. My home life is also so nice and calm these days. I met Michelle shortly after Gina moved out. We hit it off right away. She really wanted to move in but couldn't do so until Oct. 1 and I realized that though rent money is nice, I'd much rather wait it out and live with someone that clicks with me better - and we all know how rare that is. As it happens, Michelle moved in late September and it's been a dream. She's neat and tidy and does dishes and plays with the cats. I'm really glad that I decided to wait for her to move in.
