Don't trust Redbox- If you reserve a DVD or game on Redbox online - you get charged for the service from the day you reserve it - NOT when you pick it up!
It's total crap and they are jerks about this policy! This is my conversation with JessieS at Redbox
JesseS: Hi my name is JesseS, please give me one moment while I review your question.
JesseS: Hello Maria, Thank you for waiting, I understand your concern with this rental Please give me a moment to look into this further for you.
Me: I am being charged for holding the DVD 5 days. I know I didn't return them to the same box, but I only had them may two!
JesseS: Alright, so we are showing that these movies were reserved on 10/30/2015 at 8:01 PM and they were returned together on 11/3/2015 at 9:49 PM We billed for 5 nights due to the disks being returned after 9 PM on 11/3. Since our rental return time is 9 PM for all rentals.
Me: They may have been reserved, but I didn't pick them up right away. and I only held onto them one day - so what's up with that - you get charged for holding them?
JesseS: With our reservations we begin billing when the reservation is made online and not when the disks are picked up, we do have display this information at check out and in the reservation email that we send out.
Me: how is that 5 days? that is total bullshit! really?
JesseS: I am really sorry about this Maria but we are showing this as a correct charge, since the reservation was made on 10/30 and they were returned together on 11/3, The reason why we begin billing once the reservation is made is due to the disks being pulled from circulation and being held till the next night.
JesseS: I would like to help make up for these charges, by adding 4 credits to your account. Each credit is good for a free first night rental of any Blu-ray or DVD movie and they are valid for 30 days from today’s date.
Me: THAT is not at all clear when you make a reserve!
JesseS: Here is what we have posted below the rentals in the reservation email
IMPORTANT NOTE: Your rental period began as soon as you completed your reservation. You’ll be charged for today’s rental whether your pick up your discs or not. If you don’t pick them up, we’ll release them tomorrow so others can rent them.
Me: I'll never reserve agian. period. what a rip off
JesseS: Again I am really sorry about this, Would you like the 4 credits?
Me: sure
Me: but I'm ... not at all pleased.
Me: It's sneaky how this policy is done -
JesseS: We are not trying to be sneaky at all with our billing Maria, again we do have it stated at check out and in the email that we will begin billing once reservation is made. If you would rather have a refund I can set up a refund for $6.54, instead of the credits. Which ever you would prefer
Me: YOU CHARGED ME $15 adjusted to #$14.50! and I expected the payment to be $3.00!
JesseS: We billed $15.81 since the discs were returned on 11/3 after 9 PM. To be only charged for 1 night the movies would have had to be returned by 9 pm on 10/31, The refund for $6.54 would of been for 2 nights for each disc.
Me: I will not be quiet about this. fine. But I no longer trust Redbox
JesseS: Which would you like the refund or credits?
[I started to type in: credits, but Jessie didn’t’ wait at all…]
JesseS: Okay, I have set up a refund for $6.54 this refund can take up to 5-7 business days to appear in back on your card.
JesseS: Is there anything else I can help you with?
Me: thank you, no
JesseS: Thank you for chatting with us at Redbox. Have a great day!
[Yeah right, jerk.]
