Ganked from bizarroeric.

1. Take five books off your bookshelf.
2. Book #1 -- first sentence
3. Book #2 -- last sentence on page fifty
4. Book #3 -- second sentence on page one hundred
5. Book #4 -- next to the last sentence on page one hundred fifty
6. Book #5 -- final sentence of the book
7. Make the five sentences into a paragraph.

As I write these opening words, I pause to gaze out the windows of my upstairs workroom onto the broad lawn and to the creek beyond, which we call Purple Crane. "So, lucky for you, Davey, I ran across the ice skates I owned when I was your age." Then the young woman appears at the chamber window, her mouth open, gasping, her throat rippling with internal motion. "Why a taxi, for heaven's sake?" Tomorrow belongs to them.

1. "My Cat Spit McGee" -- Willie Morris
2. "The Boxcar Children: Mystery at Snowflake Inn" (oh, shut up)
3. "The Science of The X-Files" -- Jeanne Cavelos
4. "Danny The Champion Of The World" -- Roald Dahl
5. "Will: The Autobiography of G. Gordon Liddy"

That actually worked out way better than it should have. Odd.
