Title: Swimming in Secrets
Fandom: Person of Interest
Pairing: Reese/Finch
Rating: R for Reese’s arousal
Summary: Written for the commentfic prompt “Where does Finch go every Tuesday?”
Wordcount: 1800
Author’s Notes: First fic for the fandom, and I’m still not sure how it turned out. I wish I could have made it more porny, but the banter got the best of me so I hope I did okay with it.
Disclaimer: Don’t own the show, although I do share what I’m convinced is Reese’s canon obsession with Finch.

Swimming in Secrets

Harold had secrets. Reese was aware of this. Finch made it very clear from the moment he employed him. That was over a year ago, and Reese liked to think they’ve formed a friendship of sorts since then. It’s comforting to know that Harold spies on him when Reese isn’t working. But there are moments Reese doesn’t feel he’s being watched, that he doesn’t know where Harold is and that makes him nervous.

It happened every Tuesday. Harold dismissed himself around 6pm and the next time Reese would see him would be at the library when he gave him his morning tea. Harold really should sleep in a bed, but he’d always be fast asleep at his desk, exhausted. Sometimes, Reese would sit and watch for a while, but the urge to touch became overwhelming that he always ended waking him before he did something foolish.

It’s better when Finch is awake, and Reese is with him, or Finch is in his ear. The silence is deafening, and it’s not good for Reese to be with his own thoughts. Yet all his thoughts were about Finch. Everything came back to Finch. Not just the work, although it was good to have a purpose again. It’s something else, which Reese tried not to dwell on; things he dreamt about, a level of intimacy that he craved.

Finch had to expect that Reese would try to follow him, but he has never been able to catch him.

“Where do you go, Harold?” Reese was talking to himself again, Harold had been gone for about an hour and already Reese was going crazy. He’s bored and frustrated. Bear looked at him, with concern in his puppy dog eyes. Reese looked at him. “We can’t, can we?” Bear licked him in response.

So really, it’s not Reese’s fault. He’s just taking Bear for a walk (a very long walk) when Bear picked up Harold’s trail and tugged Reese to the location. The building was deserted, but Bear continued to find a way inside. Reese didn’t realize where he was until the smell of chlorine hit him, but by then it was too late.

Reese was frozen, captivated by the site of Harold cutting gracefully through the water, red swimming shorts clinging to his skin and causing Reese to stare. He felt a little light headed. He blamed it on the chlorine but really, it was the fact his blood diverted so fast. Surprisingly, Harold didn’t notice him, his head mostly under water as he raced the lengths, only coming up for breaths.

Bear whined softly, nuzzling Reese’s hand before sitting outside the room, guarding Finch. Reese just stood there for a moment, the urge to touch Harold so strong but he settled for touching himself. Eventually, he did have the sense to move to a different room, but his arousal didn’t dissipate.

He’d tried so hard to fight it, right from the beginning, hoping it would fade with time or knowledge. Instead, every single tiny little piece he had gathered of the Harold Finch puzzle just added to the attraction, but he never imagined something like this. If Reese was completely honest with himself, he spent a lot of his spare time imagining what Harold looked like under those fabulous three-piece suits of his.

Reese’s slowly unzipped his trousers, hand pressing against the bulge that had formed there. It had been such a long time since he had indulged himself with sex, and fantasies about his boss probably weren’t healthy, but fuck, the more he thought about it the more desperate he was. He needed to do this, needed to get it out of his system.

The trouble was that Reese liked foreplay. He liked to kiss and touch and lick and smell before sex. He wanted to do all that with Finch, but he’s not delusional enough to believe that can happen. He can imagine though.

His favourite fantasy is Harold in the shower, Reese helping him wash, lathering him up. It’s hard to imagine Harold without his glasses, but it would be one less barrier between them, one less thing for Harold to hide behind. Reese could take advantage of the fact that he can see Harold but Harold can’t see him, but his eyes are closed in pleasure, kissing under the shower spray.

“Mr Reese, my phone alerted me that you…” Harold trailed off as he realized what Reese was doing. Reese’s eyes snapped open, back to reality.

“Harold, stay.” Reese ordered. Usually, Harold didn’t accept orders but there was a pleading tone in Reese’s voice that caused him to pause, struggling to process it. Reese kept stroking himself, forcing his eyes open to take in Harold’s appearance. Harold was wearing a dark blue suit, but his shirt was open and his hair still damp.

“Mr Reese, I don’t understand…” Harold continued staring at him blankly, so Reese was forced to act. It took great effort, but Reese stood up and captured Harold’s mouth in a swift kiss, running his hand through Harold’s damp strands of hair.

“Stay, with me, please.” John murmured into the kiss, clutching onto Finch as though he was a lifejacket and John was on the verge on drowning.

“Oookaayy.” Harold drew out the word, still struggling to process the turn of events. “Should I…?”

“Whatever you’re comfortable with.” John tried to smile slightly, but he was nervous as Harold mulled it over.

“I’m not comfortable with your erection digging into my hip.”

“Sorry.” John took a step back. Harold tentatively reached out, his head tilting in a distinctly bird like manner. “You can touch, if you want.” John had to clear his throat because his mouth was dry. He wanted Harold to touch him so badly that it was almost a need.

“I haven’t done this for a long time, Mr Reese.” Harold admitted shyly.

“Ingram?” John asked, overcome with jealousy, but he immediately withdrew the question when he realized it might cause Harold to withdraw. “Sorry. You’re a private person. I know this.” It doesn’t mean he’s happy about it.

“I don’t like people knowing my weaknesses, Mr Reese.” Harold acknowledged, and not for the first time Reese wished he would just call him John. “However, you have…” Harold cast an eye over John’s nakedness. “… opened up to me. I’m unsure about how I feel with you having witnessed me in such a vulnerable position--” John’s dick hardened in Harold’s hand and he couldn’t help but buck his hips slightly, so aroused at the memory of Harold in the swimming pool.

“You looked hot.” It was the only defence John had, his only rationale.

“There are times, John, when I seriously question your sanity.” Harold shook his head, his eyes twinkling, making John laugh even as he moved even closer to Harold, breathing in his scent tainted with chlorine.

“Crazy about you.” Even John had to acknowledge that it was a bad line, but before Harold had a chance to point that out, John silenced him with a meaningful kiss. Harold tentatively kissed back, before fully committing himself, making John moan and rut against his leg. It wasn’t long before John was coming all over Harold’s immaculate suit. Harold’s expression would have been laughable, if John wasn’t on a post-orgasmic high.

Harold was still speechless by the time John came back to his senses.

“We should get you out of those clothes.” John said, as innocently as he could manage.

“You’ve already seen me naked once today, Mr Reese. I can’t imagine you wish to repeat the occurrence.” Harold really still didn’t get it.

“I saw you in your swimming trunks.” John grinned at the memory, tugging on Harold’s immaculate tie. “Really wasn’t enough.”

“I was doing my physical therapy. I wasn’t skinny dipping.”

“Shame.” John made sure to keep eye contact, so Harold would hopefully realize John’s sincerity. “Can I convince you to come skinny dipping with me now, Harold?”

“Not today.”

“Are you going to come back here next week, or will I turn up to find you’ve moved on?” John tried to sound curious instead of concerned, but it still cut him when he remembered how Harold gave up his cover job at the company he owned, just because John had found out about it.

“I don’t know yet. This really is a good swimming pool. I don’t see why I should have to break my routine just because you…” Harold trailed off, still not sure what John was doing. John let it slide. This crush wasn’t going away. John had accepted that. He was willing to wait until Harold realized that too.

“I’m looking forward to it.” Once again, John let the sincerity reflect in his voice, before smirking slyly. “I even think I’m going to buy you some speedos.”

“You may, but I don’t have to wear them.”

“But you will. I’m your favourite employee. You should indulge me more.”

“You’re my favourite employee because you’re always so focussed on the job.”

“No, I’m your favourite employee because I always get the job done, no matter how distracting you are.”

“I had no idea I was that much of distraction, Mr Reese.”

“You still have no idea.” John sighed, suddenly feeling cold due to his nakedness.

“Get dressed, or go swimming. I think I’ll take Bear home, if you don’t mind.” Harold paused. “If you get dressed, you can come with us.”

“To your home?” John perked up.

“To where I live, yes. I wouldn’t call it a home.”

“What would you call it?”

“A start. I have many secrets, Mr Reese. Most of them are out of necessity, although several are my personal preference. I’ve built up walls, walls that I’m not quite sure how to break down. For some reason, you seem to be determined to smash through them. I see no harm in showing you a door.”

“I don’t want you to do anything you’re not comfortable with. You’re a very private person.”

“You don’t want to come home with me?” Harold almost sounded disappointed.

“I do, more than you know.”

“It’s very hard for me to trust people. I’ve been betrayed before.”

“You don’t have to explain.” It was hard for John to hear. The idea of anybody hurting, betraying Finch made John see red. John wanted to protect him. He loved him.

“I do, John. Because what I’m trying to say is…” it was clearly hard for Finch to talk about. “… You are probably the only person in a position to hurt me.” That didn’t come out right. “I’m trying to say that I do trust you, and I may not show it but nevertheless, I do feel-” John cut him off with a kiss. “Indeed, Mr Reese.” Harold commented, rather flustered.

“You don’t need to keep secrets from me Harold. I would die before I ever betrayed you.” Another sincere promise.

“That’s what I’m afraid of John.” Harold admitted quietly.
