NCIS S07E20 Moonlighting: Episode review and picscam

Is it bad that I tend to skip the introduction, the scene which shows the horrific crime (usually murder) take place and skip the credits and go straight to see what whacky antics and discussions the team are up to?

It’s good to see Tim/Tony have recovered from the T-Cad betrayal. It’s obvious Tony cares a lot about Timmy. I never kept track of the number of kills my gaming bromantic buddy had (although at one point I did know the amount of hours he’d spent on Left 4 Dead compared to World of Warcraft but that’s not the point.) Timmy does not seem the kind of man to brag about his kills so I bet Tony started it somehow.

Tim explains he made 1000 kills in one day by being ‘super-hot.’ Gosh, I would agree, with the confidence and the shirt and the jacket. How does he keep that physique playing videogames all day?

Yay, Jimmy is allowed to interact with Ziva, showing her pics of him and his girlfriend. Lol! I love how Jimmy turns his head when Tony calls him ‘autopsy gremlin’ there was something vaguely animalistic about it. Great nickname.

Hmm, since I am considering getting a Henna tattoo, and since Jimmy has a fear of permanent things and therefore got a huge Henna tattoo, I’m guessing he’ll get a horrible rash or something. I don’t care, I still want that Henna tattoo as soon as I can afford it!

Further proof of Tony’s obsession with Tim: remembering that he wanted to go the Baltimore Street Scene? He’s clearly been thinking of taking Tim there.

Tim thanking Palmer for being mildly impressed with his gaming skills... seriously.

And oh, Tony’s concern over Tim’s video game addiction, which isn’t really concern for McGee, it’s born out of sexual frustration because McGee won’t stop looking at a computer long enough to even see Tony, let alone touch him.

I mean seriously, the whining tone to his voice: “you spent like six hours online last night,” (this seems a bit specific for a guess, also 1000 kills in 6 hours is impressive) “you need to unplug, talk to real people.” (Tim’s retort is that they are real people. Tony’s issue is that they’re not Tony) “Living, breathing people with lungs and skin you can touch and interact with.” (The way this is phrased makes me think he wants Tim to interact with his skin)

Then Gibbs’ interrupts Tony’s meltdown with work. I somehow get the feeling I won’t be able to concentrate on the case.

Gibbs interacting with a couple of seriously sounding stoned dudes was amusing.

Yay, the fingerprint scanners have arrived. I bet Tim is happy about that. Made even funnier by the way Ducky calls him on it.

Tony christens Tim ‘the king of Dorkland’ and they actually have a moment. Until Gibbs startles them out of it. They do actually snap out of it, both at the same time too and with the music in the background, perfectly timed.

Did Tony just actually say “I used to like spending time with you.”? That’s a declaration of love if ever I heard it. Except, Gibbs just let Tim use the fingerprint scanner on a different dead body, in my mind that means Gibbs loves Tim. I may love Tim a lot.

Oh Noes! Dead dude’s identity is blocked by the FBI. We all know what that means.

FORNELL!!!

Gibbs-signal. Fornell’s beard (maybe Gibbs has a beard kink, only on older men, we know he likes Tim clean-shaven and especially if that means he smells like Gibbs’ after-shave) Fornell being all about work, Gibbs having fun coming up with nicknames for Fornell. This scene is made of so much win. Fornell/Gibbs own the show, I could never write them as well as they are written.

Yay for Ducky and Palmer. Sand mites might bite! Grammatically lost, medically found. I really don’t care about the case, I’m just loving the characters and dialogue.

I love Ziva’s little laugh, when Tim makes a sly comment on Tony’s intelligence. To my surprise, Tony accepts it as punishment for earlier naming Tim as king of Dorkland. Wow, Tony’s growing up (and he’s tried everything else to make Tim notice him)

They really are married. Gibbs agrees to do things Fornell’s way (talk to the judge?) and after that has fallen through it’s revealed Tim was doing things Gibbs’ way all along. Poor Tim can’t lie. It’s a marriage, hell a family, that works. Even with Fornell nagging about Gibbs’ caffeine intake, the same way Tony was to Tim five days ago. They nag because they care.

Oh look. The polygrapher with a crush on McGee.

I even knew this was coming (you’d think the black and white would spoil it) but I jumped so hard at the explosion my headphones fell out of my ears. Also, am I the only one flashing back to McKay and Sheppard from SGA saving the princess? I swear that’s the picture.

Poor Tim doesn’t want to question Susan, and I think that Fornell saying they needed ‘a soft touch’ probably didn’t encourage him. And Gibbs remembers the Susan/Tim debacle and he still glares Tim into submission

She’s scared so she hugs Tim. Who does Tim get to hug now he’s scared?

Lol! Vance is sneaky. Either that or Gibbs and Fornell are sloppy. Busting into the Director’s office whilst the Director is still in there. Oops.

Don’t worry Fornell, they wouldn’t dare put a camera in Gibbs’ office, the elevator is still safe for you and Gibbs to... exchange information.

I love and loathe Gibb’s reaction to Vance being surprised whilst they watch Tim and Susan in the conference room and Tim comes out with: “you had me re-take my polygraph because you wanted to see whether I had a girlfriend or not.” Gibbs’ simple: “I took care of that” is no way to deal with sexual harassment. Unless he really did take care of that, in which case I want to see Gibbs warning her to keep away from his Timmy. In fact, I can see him scaring her into taking that second job.

Tim seems genuinely confused by a strong compliment. Before she came on scarily strong and he was scared. Bless him!

Abby’s fallen prey to the clingy girlfriend trope again, despite the fact she decided her and McGee would be better off friends years ago. Although this is parodied by Tony hinting she’s a mother hen, Ducky says more like an ‘over-protective panther’.

Then Abby walks in on Tim and Susan ‘pumping’ in her lab. Really, pumping up a blow-up bed for Susan to sleep in. I facepalmed so hard my forehead still hurts. Even though the computer stuff has to do with the plot, my brain has been fried with McGee cuteness. I’ll catch up at the end. For now, I’ll just drool over McGee doing his thang.

That was a sucky thing Tim did, running out on Susan. But he did ask Gibbs first. And I imagine she is very intense to be around. And he did ask Gibbs. Gibbs let him go. I’m blaming Gibbs. Although, Gibbs doesn’t really have an excellent track record with women. Still, Tim had to ask permission to do a jerkish thing and he got it. Mind you, even if I was Gibbs I probably couldn’t say no to Tim.

Hmm, Tony is telling Tim to go for the woman who previously sexually harassed him and Tim is so sweet he’ll probably think about it too. My interpretation is that Tony is trying to avoid temptation, he figures if Tim is with someone else, he won’t want to be with Tim so much. And the hetero act he pulls at the end really seems false to me, the way he stops looking at Tim whilst he says it, he’s not bragging he’s coming up with an excuse. I don’t buy it.

Well, of course the janitor had something to do with it, he’s The Janitor. No, not that Janitor.

So the bad guys blew themselves up in an explosion that wasn’t supposed to kill anyone. And the bad guys were dead before Susan’s home was broken into and her computer was taken. A computer to which she had, illegally, copied transcripts and information about the polygraphs the company did.

Fornell and Vance watch the ‘Gibbs gets a lie detector test’ show but only Fornell finds it hysterical (I would show you a screencap where he’s laughing but he covers his mouth, probably out of self-preservation or Gibbs might kill him). It’s not so funny as Gibbs has a flashback to killing the man who killed his wife and daughter. Plotless character continuity. I like it :-)

It was the Judge who we saw once earlier in the episode while they were doing things Fornell’s way. I should have known it was her or why else would we have seen her? I actually don’t care, take me back to McGee please.

In one sec. The Judge was convicted due to the fact she broke into Susan’s apartment, to take back data Susan probably wasn’t cleared to have. So without Susan’s neurosis the Judge would have walked. I guess that makes the fact she took the files without asking okay then (!)

Judge Judy and Executioner! Am I the only one who thought of Hot Fuzz when Fornell said ... the right version, unfortunately?

I don’t care. I am still getting that Henna tattoo (ceesau logo, if anyone is interested)! You shall not change my mind no matter how painful that looks. But lol at Tony bringing back the Gremlin thing. Hehe. And Ziva’s excuse is “I’ve got to get the hell out of here.” Gotta love that. So Jimmy follows Ziva and Tony to the elevator, begging either of them to put cream on his back (that’s a threesome fic right there), leaving Tim and Susan all alone.

Aww. The thing is, I believe Tim would. I think Tim is so sweet, he’s tried to overcome the initial fear he gets due to the fact she forced him to re-take a polygraph, something he is afraid of, something he fretted over, he’s looked past that initial fear and my believe is that Tim could love anybody who loved him back, it just might take a while for him to accept it. Now Susan doesn’t believe him and she walks away, leaving him.

She gets to leave Tim, after stalking him, after having a really high-pitched and whiny voice, after making Abby jealous (Abby doesn’t have a right to be jealous but that’s not the point) and having played her part in taking down the Judge. That is so not fair!

She has ruined my ‘everybody loved Tim’ theory. What this episode means to me:

Tony wants Tim to cut down on the videogames so they can spend more time together, probably in a sexual way.

Gibbs sabotaged the Susan/Tim relationship by allowing Tim to go off with Tony.

Vance probably wanted to speak to Susan about sexually harassing Timmy.

Abby still thinks she owns Timmy and gets very upset when reminded she doesn’t.

Tim is so freakin’ adorable!

Fornell/Gibbs is so freakin’ awesome!

Next Episode: It seems after T-Cad they’re trying to het up the boys, Tim got Susan, now Tony apparently falls hard for the sister of a guy he’s trying to convict. I’m gonna say Tony forces himself to fall for her because he knows any potential relationship is doomed. Tim wouldn’t consciously try and het himself up (which is why the girl came onto him, at least at first) but I think Tony is consciously trying to prove his heterosexuality, to prove it doesn’t matter that Tim doesn’t notice him the way he’d like, he doesn’t need it, it’s not like it’s all he thinks about. It’ll be interesting to see how it’s written, but more importantly what Michael Weatherly does with it.

Hmm, what are your thoughts about this episode?
