yep. Fine hair tends to respond very quickly to build up. When I use products that can build up my hair looks oily super fast, as in hours. Normally I go a week between washing, so it is definitely the products that do it, not my scalp.
I remember you were the poster over a year and a half ago that advised me on how to manage my hair since you also had fine/thin hair.. I really want to thank you for that, because your advice really did help a lot. After I started using Trader Joe's shampoo my hair became a lot better, but I'm not really sure why I stopped using it a few months ago. I think it was because my hair started to smell a little weird, but I'd rather have that than oiliness. Do you still use Spa Nourish, or are you using something else?
I just bought a bottle of apple cider vinegar from Trader Joe's that has been diluted to 5% acidity. Should I still dilute it 1:4 or less or not at all? And do you just put it in a spray bottle and spray it over your hair and then rinse?
Sorry for all the questions, but it's nice to talk to someone who has the same type of hair as I do, since most of my friends only struggle with having thick hair. Thanks again!
I still use the trader joes stuff. I'm going to start tinkering with it though as this winter has been really awful on my hair and I'm getting really dry dandruff, even with washing only once a week. I'll let you know if I come up with anything.
Most vinegars are 5% acidity, it's really hard to find stronger. You don't have to dilute it if you don't want to, but I would. You don't need a lot to get rid of build up, and it can really sting if it gets in your eyes or you end up breathing it in when you aren't ready (vinegar after shaving is a no-no). A lot of people use weaker than 1:4 mixes if they use vinegar regularly. I mix it in a jar and rinse through my hair at the end of the shower, you can rinse it out or not to your preference. If you have hard water you don't want to rinse it out as the minerals in the water will replace themselves after you just removed them.
