Chi Turbo Vs. Solia Straightener

It's been a while since school and Lush have been kicking my booty time-wise.
I checked the tags and couldn't find a specific answer.
Anyhow, I have been looking into a new good solid straightener since my 2 year old Revlon snags and knew Target carried CHI. After doing some research and racking my nerves on whether it was worth the risk of buying on amazon, I went to Target and bought the Turbo CHI (the original was out) regardless its hefty price tag.
I have thin hair and lots of it but after trying it out it snagged and created static. What the? It's basically winter in Chicago and I don't want to keep it if this is going to be the result.
I did some more research and found folica.com and am definitely moved to buy the Solia Tourmaline Ceramic flat iron.
Does Tourmaline really make a difference because the CHI doesn't have this perk and it's half the price?
Any Solia owners out there think I should take this CHI back and just order from folica?
