Rosacea

My face has been red for as long as I can remember. My cheeks were chubby and bright red when I was little, and I was known for it. Little has changed...my cheeks are still red, however, it's not cute anymore. :( And, my nose is red too.

My mom has rosacea and has tried numerous different creams and things to try and help it. Nothing has seemed to do much. I didn't think much of it until a few days ago after I got out of the bath my face (as it usually does) turns bright pink. My mom said her's does the same thing and suggested that I might have rosacea as well. I didn't think young people got it...I'm only 18, but after looking it up, I'm almost 100% sure I have it. My cheeks and nose go red in hot and cold temps, whenever I eat hot or spicy foods or tomato products, whenever I exercise, drink alcohol (even just a couple sips)...etc. One of my friends is always pointing out 'your face is going so red!' which gets pretty annoying considering there's not much I can do about it...But, what I want to know is what can I do about it? Anything? Are there treatments for this, or is it something I have to deal with and cover up? I'll probably get myself to my derm eventually, but in the meantime...What did they prescribe you or recommend? Has it helped?
Thanks :)
