Quick Acne Treatment?

Jul 11, 2009 12:16

I have a date on July 16th, and I would love to have clear skin. My acne isn't horrible, but I have some pretty noticeable zits.

I only have 5 days until the date, though; does anyone know of a miracle acne wash, or treatment of some kind? I would really appreciate the help! Thank you.

When I have that problem, I start using a face mask (usually Queen Helene's or St. Ive's clay mask) every night to dry up the zits. To avoid drying out the rest of the skin on your face, just apply it on the areas where you have acne. Let it dry, rinse off, use a spot treatment and moisturize. Once you get the zits to come to a head, you can decide whether to pop them (carefully! there are tutorials floating around on the internet for how to do this best) or just cover them with concealer.

tea tree oil mask and bar soap from the body shop. don't exfoliate when you have a break out. use the bar soap and face mask twice a day.

If you shop at a drugstore, I would recommend Clean And Clear's new scrub/mask, the Steam In-Shower Facial mask/scrub. I don't actually use it in the shower, just as a regular scrub and mask. It contains montmorillonite clay, a very powerful drawing, cleansing, anti-bacterial clay, and glycolic and fruit acids. I'd also recommend tea tree oil, neem oil if you can find it, tamanu oil if you can find it, and any product that contains burdock oil or extract.

I agree with the poster who suggested a mask. I like Origins charcoal mask. Use it every night and/or to spot-treat.

My second piece of advice, which will sound wrong, but I swear helps my breakouts more than just about anything else, is moisturizer. A light coat of oil-free moisturizer every night and every morning keeps your skin in balance and it won't overproduce oil, which will end up clogging your pores. Most acne treatments are drying and this will help.

I agree with this advice completely. Most people don't realize that using moisturizer helps protect the skin from the elements, which means the skin does not need to overproduce sebum to protect itself.
