Is anyone else's skin really weird about water conditions? I ask because it seems when I live in an area with bad water, my face breaks out and I have a hard time controlling it. Whenever I visit my mom, who now runs her shower and bath water through a water filter, my skin clears up ( Read more... )

The water quality definitely has a direct influence on how your skin reacts. Whenever I go to the US or the UK, my skin always gets bumpy and irritated.

Water purity does effect your skin. Some cities/regions use different chemicals/methods to filter their water and you may react differently to some especially if you have sensitive skin.

There is a water purification thing that Sephora sells that may help you but do some research first. Find out what exactly is in your water etc. If you live in an area with "bad water' I would highly suggest in investing in some sort of overall water purification/reverse osmosis filter.

Luckily, I live in an area with fairly clean water. But the next town south (where my bf lives) everytime I shower there my hair and skin is DRY.

Cocoa butter breaks me out like crazy. I never put it on my face.

It's probably hard water. I think you're best to avoid soaps. Since soaps tend to attract minerals from the water and produce a film on your skin. The film can lead to breakouts.

Ohhh yeah. The different water at different houses makes more of a difference on my hair than my skin, but you can definitely tell.

I use a scrub about once a week, when I start to notice my skin getting bumpy. Then after that I use the mint julep masque and those two things together seem to really even things out.

I never thought about using a treatment afterwards -- this whole taking care of my skin thing is so new to me. I'll look into that for sure.

Scrubs actually open pores and push dead skin into them, in addition to irritating the skin, so I think it would help your breakouts to cut out scrubs altogether.
