Eyelashes

I'm thinking about using fake eyelashes for the first time and have a few questions I'm hoping you all can help me with:
What are your experiences with them?
Which ones are the best (the easiest to apply, least likely to fall off, look the best, etc.) ?
Best drugstore kind?
Best department store/Sephora ones?
Are they really difficult to apply on your own? Any tips I should know about?
Do ppl think it's tacky to wear fake eyelashes?
Anything else I should think about while shopping around for them?
