New to the community and I did skim the acne care and skin care tags back several years but didn't see anything about this - my apologies if I missed it.
I have had acne since forever. Hormonal cystic and other types, and dry, sensitive skin.
I have tried a lot of treatments but due to expense (insurance won't cover Benzaclin and it costs 100s, sad face), or the fact that I am nursing a baby, etc, I can't use any of the medications that have helped in the past now. I recently came across this thing called the microneedle skin care system "derma roller" (as shown here:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004ATTGSY/ref=ox_sc_act_title_3?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A1S8C1VJVXNZ2Q). It gets good reviews but I am skeptical of amazon reviews, plenty are fake. I can't get into my derm for awhile so I am just wondering if this contraption is a real thing that works or just another gimmick. (For the link-shy, it's basically a roller with a bunch of tiny stainless steel needles that you roll over your skin, which supposedly ups your skin's production of collagen and thus helps with skin issues, including acne, acne scars, stretch marks, wrinkles, whatever.)
Anyway, the discoloration/scarring from the cycstic acne I get every mentrual cycle takes months and months and months to go away, so I am wondering if this would speed up the healing process.
Anyone? Thanks!
