Minimum Makeup for Professional Look?

Sep 05, 2011 12:32

I'm pretty hopeless with makeup but have been giving more thought to practicing a decent professional look for when I venture out on the job hunt. I plan to hit an actual makeup counter if I'm buying anything fancy, but I wondered what the consensus was on how much makeup you need when applying for jobs and such.

Can someone with acne (and dry/oily skin) just do cover ups, or does a full face look better? If you're applying somewhere that doesn't care much about appearance (lab jobs), do you go more natural? Could I get away with eyes but not lips? My hair doesn't stay in any sort of 'do for more than a few minutes (very fine and straight), is hair down a faux pas?

My hopelessness thanks any advice!
