DIY Acrylic nail kits.

*Just so I get helpful comments and perhaps not "OMG don't do that at home" type stuff - I already know the risks involved with doing your own nails. I know, I know...I am very sanitry and hope for the best. That is all.

I'm here to ask about the wonderful/horrifying new trend of doing your nails at home. Not the press ons but the kits that actually last a length of time.

So, I have done the "Broadway" Real Life Brush On Gel french tips kit thinger. That was easy peasy and they turned out really cute. I even got compliments at work from people who had nails on from a salon, so they obviously looked decent.
The only problem I had was, I work as c cashier and my hands are typing on the register and handling goods ALL day. I think that was the cause of what I call "splintering" in the nails. I was bummed because they really looked nice, did not hurt my real nails...and were inexpensive to boot.
Has anyone used this kit before and know what I mean with the "splintering"? It was like cracks in the gel part, but the nail stayed totally intact. Had I painted over it with nail polish they would have lasted a week or longer, even with my rough on the hands job.

So , I saw the "Kiss" French Acrylic sculpture kit at Kmart I think, got that a few weeks ago and have been utterly terrified to try it out. I know if it turns out all bumpy I can just file it down like crazy...so I'm not sure what I'm so afraid of.
Have any "beginners" used an acrylic kit similar to this and had decent first-time results?
I have watched a TON of tutorial videos, including the one made by "Kiss" on how to do the acrylic nails but...I'm just scared!
