a revolt nonetheless

you speak of a revolt of hearts but this right now is something more. (iwhisperthescreamsthatechothroughmymind) cultural mediums for expression of emotion/art/rebellion/orwhatevertodays'trendreflects have exploded onto the lives of our generation. the numbers are rising as we become a generation willing .o.r.f.o.r.c.e.d to testify to our current emotional BREAKdown, dramatic BREAKup, or TRAGIC lack of substantial occurrences. we paint, we draw, we write, we play in a band, we strum our guitars sitting in the darkness, we get tattooed, we dye our hair, we pierce our lips, stretch our ears....anything to justify the pain. we write in our online journals every fifteen minutes while talking to at least half of the 200 people on our buddy list. (after all it's easy to tell a complete stranger how fucked up your life is)
so this is your revolution? being too fucking scared to say the things you think out loud? this revolution is a disgrace. we wonder why no one understands us. we wonder why parents/employers/strangersonthestreet stare disapprovingly or look away in total disgust. so what? if they do have the nerve to inquire as to your motivation behind your art, your music, your appearance....WHAT DO YOU SAY?
"well, you wouldn't understand."
"i just like the pain."
"it's my way of expressing myself." (EXPRESSING WHAT!)
"i'm just dealing with alot."
bullshit. bullshit. bullshit. could you be anymore vague? could your answers be any more pathetic? could you give them anymore reasons to judge/despise/misunderstand us?
so here is my question to you. how long has it been since you sat down face to face with someone and talked about whatever was on your mind? when was the last time you had a conversation with someone about something that made you think and question your life, your beliefs, your everything? when was the last time you turned down the music, turned off the tv, stopped making out, left your cellphone on silent and had a conversation that stimulated your mind...that you walked away from curious about some new idea...hungry for knowledge....ready to study to see if that really is what you believe?
our generation has become a wreck of emotionally-driven, misunderstood youth. so let this revolution begin with our minds. read. study. question the things you've been fed all your life. talk to someone you know you'll disagree with. revolt against the norms that have been placed on us. talk to each other. discuss. disagree. believe in something and know why. believe to the point you'd be willing to tell anyone why. don't hide in anonimity. silence kills the revolution my friend.
don't let it kill you
