Summary: written for the ninth weekly drabble challenge at doctor_donna, for the prompt 'green'. Now if you excuse me, I was also prompted for some angst by this same thing so I should go crawl in a hole and cry write it.
"But....they're green....”
“Yes, Donna, I know. And to be fair, so were you the first time you rode on the TARDIS.”
“Okay, that bit I get, but....hold up, so those are their feet, right? And are those....oh my....”
“Moving on, then!”
“Doctor, what are they?”
“You mean you've never seen them before? Oh wait, let me guess. 'A bit hungover', right?”
“Not for this, no, but....oh, that's disgusting!”
“It's perfectly natural, Donna. Really, you've seen Sontarans and you're bothered by-”
“I think I'm going to be sick....”
“Donna, it's fine. Really, it's fine.”
“It flipping ate the other one!”
“They do that.”
“They do that?”
“Yup. They complete the act of mating, then the female kills the male.”
“She ate him!”
“To be fair, it was just his head.”
“How would you like to have me come along and bite your head off? Would it be fine then?”
“Well, we'd have to mate first. Didn't I mention that? They mate, and then she kills him.”
“I'm not mating with you, Sunshine!”
“Good, I've got nothing to worry about then. And don't worry about it. They're praying mantuses, mantusi, manti, whatever you call more than one of them. It's just what they do.”
“But still....oh, bugger, she's chewing on his legs now!”
“Yeah, that's a bit wrong. Let's move to that bench down the path and- Oh, that is sick!”
