Summary/Notes:  Written for last week's drabble challenge at doctor_donna, for the challenge word "picture".  Thanks to loves_glamour for helping me decide if it worked for the prompt or not.

The breakfast table was surprisingly quiet for a Monday morning. Sylvia wasn't one for conversation before she'd had her coffee, and since her father had stolen the last of the drink she was a bit less than bright eyed.

Wilf was sitting in his usual chair, sipping the stolen coffee and filling in a crossword; currently he was looking for an eleven letter word for “messy”.

They both heard a cranky groan from behind them as Donna made her way downstairs. Wilf turned to wish her good morning, took one look at her, and suddenly grinned as he turned back to his puzzle. “D-I-S-H-E-V-E-L-L-E-D,” he said proudly, scribbling it in as his granddaughter plopped down beside him. “Morning, sweetheart. Want anything for breakfast?”

“Nah, I'm all right, thanks,” Donna replied sleepily, shaking her messy hair out of her face. “But I will take....aha!”

Wilf scrambled to get the paper back from her but she'd already grabbed it and whirled away. He huffed impatiently and she turned back, sticking her tongue out slightly before leaning over and giving him a kiss on the cheek.

“Relax, Gramps, I just want to look at the comics before I go get dressed. Always liked that one with the talking dog, you know.” She turned her attention back to the paper but stopped as she saw the front page. “That's weird,” she muttered. “Something here about a flying bus in the middle of London. Mum, do you know anything about this?”

Sylvia offered an irritated and decaffeinated shake of her head then her eyes slowly widened as she realized what her daughter had asked. “What did you say, Donna?”

“Oh, there's a story about some criminal on the run got away in a flying bus. They say everyone's to be on the lookout for her and some tall, skinny bloke with spiky hair and a long brown coat.” She squinted to get a better look at the picture. “Looks a bit familiar, actually,” she commented, and Wilf and Sylvia exchanged glances as Donna continued to peer at the image. “Oh well, he's probably one of those idiots that hit on me last weekend when I was out with the girls. Did I tell you about that, Mum?” she asked, absently handing the paper back to Wilf. “There was a skinny one and this complete nutter with a stammer that kept saying he thought I was really pretty and he wanted to marry me. I tell you, it's not safe for a girl to go out anymore, all these crazy people running around talking about flying buses and those flipping pepper shakers shooting at people and things. The world's gone bonkers.”

Wilf nodded absently and nodded toward the paper, letting Sylvia see that, sure enough, the Doctor was on the front page, helping a pretty young brunette into a double decker bus. He made a mental note to cancel his subscription and looked over at Donna, who was still chattering away. “So what do you think of this whole flying bus mess anyway, love?”

“Who, me?” Donna asked. “Well, it's obviously some sort of trick or promotion or something. If you ask me,” she said as she stood up to get dressed, “it's all a bit Harry Potter.”
