Title: Just Too Loud
Characters: Donna and the Doctor
Rating: G
Word Count: 200ish
Summary/Notes: written for the second week drabble challenge at doctor_donna for the challenge word 'protection'. I know I'm a bit late, but I couldn't decide whether or not to stick to this idea, since it got a bit away from the prompt. But I finally decided to just go with it.

The guards stomped away from the cell, one of their captives in tow, the other shouting after them.

“You leave my friend alone! Come back here!” When the jailers continued on their way the voice got louder and more desperate, finally reaching quite a high pitch, considering who it was coming from. “YOU BRING MY FRIEND BACK!”

Finally the voice reached such a decibel level that the guards....well....exploded. The prisoner they'd been escorting tore back down the hall, skidding to a stop at the cell door.

“Donna, you were fantastic!” the Doctor shouted, and Donna urgently shushed him.

“Just get me out of here,” she hissed, her eyes narrowing when he didn't respond. “Well?”

The Doctor shifted nervously, eyeing the lock.

"I'd really love to help you out,” he said honestly. “I mean thanks for trying to protect me and all, but....well, I hate to tell you this, Donna, and please don't slap me, but...."

“Oh, spit it out!”

“When you shouted you fused the lock in place. See it's a sound resonance key system, and you were so high pitched a couple minutes ago you engaged a dead lock seal. You're just too loud."

“WHAT?!”
