Living Trees

I'm getting super close to being caught up with these weekly challenges, lemme tell ya.  *cheers*

Title:  Living Trees
Timey Wimey Factor:  Your choice.  In my brain it's either right after Partners in Crime or right after The Doctor's Daughter.  It certainly works either way you look at it.
Summary/Notes:  Written for Weekly Drabble Challenge #38 (free-for-all New Year's Challenge) for the word 'new' at doctor_donna.  This was originally going to be part of a bigger fic but didn't fit the tone or direction I was going for so I popped it out on its own.  (And blah, I'm a bit unsatisfied with the title, so if you've an idea feel free to suggest.)

“A new world?” Donna asked.  The Doctor nodded and she smiled, pressing her hand to the trunk of a bright green tree.  The tree shifted in response and she jumped back, landing herself straight in the Doctor’s arms.  “Sorry,” she muttered.  “Is that alive or something?”

“All trees are alive,” he reminded her gently.

“Yeah, I know that, but that one moved.”

The Doctor took her hand, settling it back against the plant.  The tree twitched again and Donna gasped but kept her hand in place.  “Don’t worry, it won’t hurt you.  It’s just getting settled into its new home.”
