Oh, my, it's been awhile since I've written anything on this...I suppose I've just been so distracted. I hope everyone is doing alright with these new rules. I'm lucky in that I seem to fit the bill well enough! Though some shopkeepers aren't very fond of my ankles. I can't say that's ever happened to me before ( Read more... )

...Your ankles offend the shopkeepers? This stuff about the clothes seems a little ridiculous. Someone had to get a new apartment because of the clothes she wore.

I could name a number of fairy tales I've only read about as a little kid. Some people like to tell their own version. Robin Hood, Peter Pan, The Three Little Pigs... Robin Hood and Peter Pan are popular stories to reinvent or expand on.

There's myths about stuff on Big Foot and UFOs. My world's full of conspiracy addicts. If you're into that sort of thing, that is.

In where I come from, it's originally from a story book. There's also a cartoon.

A cartoon?

I bet Peter would get a kick out of that.

[To which he's skeptical about that response. But hey things don't make sense in this city. Remember? Just roll with it.]

You actually met Peter Pan?

Yeah, I did, about a year ago. Why?

[Okay. It might be that there could be a world in which Peter exists, so he stops himself from being sarcastic.]

...This is probably going to sound incredibly strange to you, but Peter Pan is only a character in these stories in where I'm from.

What are...UFOs? I've never heard of Big Foot before.

UFOs are Unidentified Flying Objects. Like flying saucers. Some people see them and believe it's really alien spacecraft. Others believe it's a hoax. There are even lowlifes who create something that looks like a flying saucer and people think it's real. They do it for the attention.

Big Foot is also known as the Sasquatch. A myth about a man-sized hairy ape with large feet stalking forests around northwest America. There's a person who caught it on tape, but that could be a hoax. That could have been someone wearing a gorilla costume. There's not much evidence to go on.

I...I see..

And...what is an alien spacecraft? What's a tape?

Aliens are beings from other planets. Other worlds. They have their spacecraft (or spaceships) to travel in. There's a lot of science fiction about this, and there are books by people who had alien encounters.

I'm not sure if aliens really have come to Earth, but it's hard not to believe that there could be life on other worlds.

Are there cameras that take pictures where you come from? There are also cameras that record video. Moving pictures.

[Belle is just going to latch on to the one thing she can sort of comprehend about all of this]

Moving pictures? Like magic?

[A short pause. Okaaaay, their worlds must be totally different then.

So, Jake kinda scrambles to come up with a reply.]

Advanced technology actually. Complex machines. But easy enough to learn how to use, like these little laptop computers.
