Good Time To Retire (revised)

Sometimes, after years of living with a song, you realize that it wasn't yet complete. Such is the case with this song. Feel free to read and reflect.

Good Time To Retire

There is a heart beating softly
Air escapes collapsing lungs
The smell of death is in the air
Last words on the tips of tongues
You said the last place that you wanted to die
Was in some hospital room
With a stranger lying next to you
And the TV glowing blue

There is a woman crying softly
Pictures swirling through her head
Of the good times, of the memories
Of the husband she once had
She said the last face that she wanted to lose
Was the man she loved so dear
As your chest calmly came to a halt
And the beeping disappeared

It is a good time to retire
It is a good time to retire
It is a good time to retire
It is a good time to retire
