Video of Obama's speech, reaction from around the world

Okay, so!
About the vid.

Around the twenty minute mark, he began talking about the issue of Iraq. During this time, he vowed the removal of all combat brigades by August, and the removal of all troops from Iraq completely by 2012.
During and after withdrawal, we will partner with both Iraq and Pakistan, to help rebuild and strengthen both countries.
Now, the troop withdrawal is something I can't complain about, even if I'm skeptical about it. But to be helping not one, but two countries to build schools, hospitals, etc etc etc, when our own economy is already failing? It's hard enough right now to support our own country in this economy, but to support two other countries in addition to ours . . .
Please explain to this dunce?

Then, at 42:20, he began speaking on the issue of women's rights, in particular as it affects women in Muslim majority countries.
"A woman who is denied education is denied equality."
"I am convinced that our daughters can contribute just as much to society as our sons."
"Our common prosperity will be advanced by allowing all humanity, men AND women, to reach their full potential. I do not believe that women must make the same choices as men in order to be equal. And I respect those women who choose to live their lives in traditional roles.
But it should be their choice. That is why America will partner with any Muslim majority country to support expanded literacy for girls, and to help young women pursue employment through micro-financing that helps people live their dreams."
My only reaction to this was, "Easier said than done." There is a reason why many Muslim women in those countries are made to stay at home, and are not allowed an education. The men who rule the countries and those homes strongly believe that it is not a woman's place to be educated; a belief that is rooted in their interpretations of the Qu'ran. Mr. Obama emphasized his respect for the fact that people have different religions, different beliefs. How, then, can he go and say that they must give up their belief that women are to stay at home, and only learn what they must know to run their husband's house?
Surely he doesn't expect this issue to go away any faster than the other issues he addressed.
