Sleep interrupted.

The night had gone exceedingly well, as far as I was concerned. Sure, the vampire slayers still lived, and the plot to kill them had been foiled, but minimal damage had been done, and in an election year and an even bigger year for me, personally, I thought that the way the damage had been managed was perfect ( Read more... )

"I know that you are formidable, Boris, and certainly commanding, and you have all of my Faith, pardon the pun, with your plan involving the two slayers, and if I might say, an excellent choice. From my one glance at the little brunette, Faith, she seems like quite the little firecracker and therefore, companion for somebody like yourself, however, do you think it wise to take Spike so lightly? He and his little brunette created quite the trouble here last year, and the slayer, Buffy, was unable to kill him. Do you think it wise to go about this non-chalantly? I wouldn't want to lose your services due to carelessness."

I hardly even heard his compliment of me, for he had made the dumbkopf move of questioning whether or not that I could kill little William not thirty seconds later.

"Mayor Wilkins, you've been Mayor of this hellmouth town for a long time, which means that you must have some brains. Observe the facts. I'm six feet, eight inches tall, nearly a foot taller then Spike, which leaves him no chance against me. He may be a warrior. He may have killed slayers in the past and evaded Buffy Summers, but he will not evade me. Secondly, I am a warrior, and believe in war strategy. If I had taken over for Adolf, this country would be speaking German, Mayor. I will not take him lightly when I go in to end his immortality."

I thought, briefly about arguing his semantics about this country speaking German if he had been in control over the Nazi's. I didn't want to anger this formidable employee of mine, and I didn't wnat to talk about the Nazi's. A chaotic bunch of people who earned no respect and would certainly get none from me, even if Boris respected heir ways and strategy's so long ago, when I kept my eyes closely on things from afar, as Mayor here.

"Once again, I say, splendid. Go forward with your plans for Spike and the two slayers. Again, I need not remind you to exercise caution and to make it discreet. Do your worst, make me proud and once again, you have all of my faith."

He stood and while I wasn't short, he was very imposing. I didn't envy Spike or the slayers, now. There was this isuue of this new vampire in town, who might create trouble for Boris, and I felt the need to bring this up.

"One more thing, Boris, before you go. What are you going to do about this vampire that was aiding the slayers earlier while you executed the executioners in the slayerfest program? He could make life difficult for all of us. What do you make of him as a threat, comparatively to Spike?"

I didn't need his blessing, but I appreciated his strategy, like a war would have one, for the big picture. He wanted it quiet, but welcomed the destruction of the precious vampire slayers and seemed to consider Spike a pest, which, let's face it, he was.

I walked to the door after shaking his hand, but stopped as he seemed to have something else bothering him.

"One more thing, Boris, before you go. What are you going to do about this vampire that was aiding the slayers earlier while you executed the executioners in the slayerfest program? He could make life difficult for all of us. What do you make of him as a threat, comparatively to Spike?"

I smiled. "He killed some demons and looked formidable in doing so, but like Spike, he has no chance against me. I had already considered him being a menace to my getting to the two slayers. I doubt that he is as formidable as Spike, Mayor."

I smiled again and opened the door. "Now, I have work to do, Mayor. You sleep well, knowing that I'm on these issues. Aufveidezein."
