We've had beautiful weather lately here in Detroit so I've taken the opportunity to get out and about a bit and take a few pictures around the city.
This first pic is from a cruise on the Detroit River. That's our most prominent skyscraper in the background - the Renaissance Center (we call it the Ren Cen).
And a close up of the Ren Cen.
Skipping across town - this is Thomas Edison's laboratory at Greenfield Village - a "living history" museum/park created by Henry Ford.
Also at Greenfield Village - this is the lovely old Cotswold Cottage where you can have tea in the summer in the middle of a beautiful English garden. I did this with my Mom two weeks ago - it was wonderful!
Now, we get into the more artsy photos. This bee was hanging out amongst the flowers at the Village. I think this is my new favorite photo.
Yesterday, I went to the Zoo. All of the following pictures are from there:
Blue Poison Dart Frog - if you can't tell yet, I really enjoy the macro feature on my camera.
The Detroit Zoo's most popular residents - the polar bears. The smaller one was born last year I think. There's a large polar bear exhibit that has an acrylic tube that goes underwater so you can walk underneath the polar bears and seals while they're swimming.
A giraffe next to one of the Zoo's oldest and most distinguishable features. Funny thing is that there are no giraffes in Egypt and I don't think there ever have been any.
