"At the Solstice There Will Come a New..."

...draft of the "Silly Novel"

It falls at nearly midnight, so it's technically June 20th. Certain people know the significance of this particular date ;). Anyway, I thought it would make a good goal - I must finish a decent full draft of my French Resistance Fan Fic  novel by then.

Why the Solstice? I'm not a Wiccan or anything, but I am a fan of Harry Potter and Rowling seems to have a thing about solstices, so when I saw that it also falls on the 20th this year, I thought it was a good time to set a goal.

That will give me lots of time - more realistic than NaNoWriMo  - for a full-length novel. It also goes well with some of the themes in the novel as well. .

Guess what? Moulin is in the "silly novel" for about a paragraph. It's really just a cameo, in the guise of a certain Joseph Jean Mercier. ;-) There might be mention of "Max" now and then too.

I just wish I had a title. A real actual title. UGH.

Did I mention the fact that I played a silly bet with myself one day last year....?  I swore that if I saw a license plate with "MAX" on it on that day (and that day only) it would be a giant cosmic sign that I must write the novel. My commute is only 8 miles each way and I actually forgot about the "bet" until my ride home that evening. In fact, I didn't remember until I found myself stuck at a red light behind a car with a plate that read "MAX 123*".

I kid you not.  I haven't seen a "MAX" plate since.

I got the idea because I once saw a Limo with a plate that read "MOULIN 5"  Then there is the giant "LUMIERE" billboard  (condos) that I see daily.  Unfortunately I drive on a street called Hardy most of the way to work!

Tonight I pieced together two drafts - my NaNoWriMo version and the nuggets and ficlets I have written, which IMHO are much better than the NaNo version. It now clocks in at 80K words, but it's almost an outline of what I hope to write.

* it wasn't 123...I don't remember, but it wasn't important.
