She stood in front of the mirror, singing along with the radio as she applied the heavy oil to her wrists and throat. She looked at herself in the mirror and smiled wickedly. She looked damn good...but then, didn't she always? She laughed and moved into the livingroom to wait for Theodore. She was looking forward to their evening out. It was a date, and she could hardly wait. It was nice to be on a real date...with a man who wouldn't call her a slut or break her heart later...
She sighed deeply, her thoughts slipping to Asente. She and Marie had talked about him, a little...and Marie asked her why she kept going back, why she kept allowing him to taunt her and tease her. Marie had asked...'Do you like the pain he causes you'. For a moment, she had to stop, and think about that. Did she like the pain? Did she like someone else making her feel worthless and terrible? She hated that he walked all over her and ignored her in favor of D'Arcy...she was good enough to talk to, when the time suited him. It hurt that she just watched him...and he was more polite to a Commoner Knight Errant then to her. She deserved more then that. She at least deserved a sliver of respect from him.
She sighed softly, watching out the window. She had sent him his gift this morning. She couldn't deal with him jerking her around constantly. It was a silly thing anyways...she would have been better off to keep it, or melt it down...put the bronze to better use. She sighed softly, biting her lip. It wasn’t really his style, she supposed. The surge of doubt washed over her.
She smiled as he pulled up in his molestor van. Everything about Theodore just made her grin. He was almost like a big fluffy teddy bear…only a little meaner… She grinned as she flirted with him, practically bouncing out of the house. She had gotten the reaction she had wanted…with him examining her body. She gave a little shiver as she climbed into the van. They spoke, he tried to find out what was bothering her…she just smiled and brushed him off. Her problems weren’t anything to worry him with.
They pulled up the restaurant and she looked at him, laughing as she realized that he had pulled close enough to the car on her side that she couldn’t get out. Her heart stopped for just a moment as he looked at her, telling her he had her just where he wanted her. She smiled as she realized that he was just teasing her. She grinned up to him as she slid over his seat, moving to lead him to the restaurant. They visited and smiled, teasing each other throughout the night. He was a nice change from Asente…he treated her like an equal, not like someone to be looked down to.
At the club, they drank and laughed. Her heart sighed deeply as she had to leave him, running off to try to help save the day with May and Sin and Robyn. She returned, terrified and concerned. He spoke gently to her and led her from the club, listening to her as she fretted about Mae and the evening in general. She smiled a bit to him as he suggested they go home, and she nodded…it would be nice to get into something comfortable and just relax. She was quiet for most of the drive, heaving a soft sigh of relief as he pulled into the drive.
She smiled shyly as she led him into the house, making sure he was comfortable in the living room as she slipped into her room to dress. She stood in front of her dresser for a long moment, sitting hard on the bed as the tears overcame her briefly. Again…she had allowed herself to get into a vehicle with an angry male…and again…she had to worry for her life. She shivered for a moment, quickly stripping from the dress as she pulled on a short pair of shorts and a black tanktop. She washed the makeup and the tears from her face, putting on a little smile.
She smiled softly as she moved into the living room, flopping onto the futon next to him. They talked softly, and she eventually stood to get herself a winecooler. She was still slightly in shock from the evening. Finally he paused, looking at her and biting his lip. She asked what he was thinking and he just shook his head, ‘Nothing’…She looked at the blood from his lip with concern, leaning forward to gently brush it away with her thumb nail. Before she could think, he was pulling her close, kissing her gently. She sighed softly, relaxing against his body, needing to feel safe, needing to feel wanted.
Their night was filled with passion, laughter. She couldn’t get enough of him holding her tightly, a bit rough, but gentle at the same time. Every moment with him eased her fears further, made her feel safer, made her happier. Even the fishhooks…seeing the pain as she pulled them out…smiling gently, knowing that he did it for her.
It ended too quickly and she curled against his body, sleeping lightly. He held her gently, allowing her to snuggle, gently stroking her face and hair as she slept. She cared for him, but she had told him…’It can’t be more then this…I want you…but it can’t be anything more, not now.’ She sighed deeply as she slipped deeper into her dreams. This had been just what she needed.
