Hello!
So! The date and place of the wedding is official and set in stone. We will be getting married May 29th, 2009 in Havre, Montana.
The wedding is going to be held at Camp Kiwanis (a giant campground) and we will have the run of the place for three days. We will be able to move in Thursday at 3, and we have to be out Sunday at 12. The campground is absolutely gorgeous - there is a giant lodge, all wood; a huge rec center; an area for a bonfire; volleyball net; a tiny chapel and schoolhouse; and a lake 1/2 mile away. There is hiking, fishing licenses are easy to procure, and plenty of fresh air. Oh, and you'll more then likely see all kinds of wildlife - when my parents were out there the other day, they saw several deer running around through the campground. When I used to go there for 4-H camp, it was entirely normal to see them in the morning - always fun!
There are cabins enough for 150 people to sleep, so if you are planning on coming from out of town and you can't/don't want a hotel, we WILL be able to accomodate you. The cabins are going to go to family and out of town friends first, but we'll find a place if you want it. In addition, there is a campground 1/2 mile away with RV hookups and camping areas, if you want to bring your tent and rough it. If that just isn't your bag of tricks, we're going to (hopefully) get a room block at one of the hotels in town. Most of the hotels in town are under $60/night, before getting any kind of room rate discount.
The best airport to fly into is probably going to be Billings, MT. Unfortunately, thats about a 4 1/2 hour drive from Havre. Great Falls is another option, but it can be pricey unless you are very lucky. (For example: Boston to Great Falls leaving on Thursday returning on Sunday - $715. Boston to Billings - $500.) So, in the end, its worth it to fly into Billings and drive. If you want, Denver is only about 12 hours from Havre - if people want to fly into Denver and then depart from DIA in rented cars, that would be a-ok with me too. I'll see if I can figure out a discount on rented cars, will do what I can...however, that might be the most economical for everyone...even if ya do have to drive though the evil that is Wyoming. :)
So that is that. Its going to be a HUGE fantastic party. There is going to be an open bar (good GOD what are my parents thinking?!?!) where we are going to be purchasing liquor wholesale through my Aunt's bar (yay family hookups!) and then just letting the booze flow. Of course, there will be tips accepted if people want to kick back, but it isn't required. So, lots of booze (basic stuff though - think a whiskey, a rum, a vodka, malibu, and Pink and Creamy for toasting with my girls), wine/mead for toasting, and beer. PLUS, there will be food. Oooohhh the food. My parents are at the moment leaning towards roasting a pig and also doing pitchfork fondue. (Take a steak, skewer it on a pitchfork, fondue in a giant pot of boiling oil - pure tasty!) Plus there will be salads, rolls, deserts, and mmm Cake!
So there it is! I would love to see everyone there (though I know how life happens), and here is your warning that its gonna happen. :) So! Keep the date in mind - 5/29/09!
Luv ya all!
