Breaking Dawn

I need to start with the 'proud parent' feeling I have now. I managed to persuade Erin to read Twilight, she started reading it Monday night and couldn't put it down. Now she has gfinished it and we have a scheduled phone squee fest sorted for tomorrow between 12 and 2pm (when she is on her lunch break at work... out buying New Moon). Next on the ( Read more... )

That book needed more Jasper imo.

I loved Jake's book. I never had anything seriously bad against him but he wasn't my favorite. His book was really good, though. He's amusing and has a really narratable personality. I also grew to love Leah more.

The wedding scene was pretty cute albeit rushed, I will say that.

I liked Vamp!Bella better than human Bella. She whined and self-hated a lot less and was generally less irritating and a hell of a lot cooler.

I feel like Jake's imprinting on Nessie was totally just casting him off and making sure he got SOMETHING out of the whole series after being cockblocked for three books. And I like her better as "Nessie" than Renesmee because, come on, Renesmee is REALLY STUPID. Carlie would've been better as a first name. I remember everyone online saying OH SO IS THEIR NEXT KID GONNA BE CHARLISLE?

I wanted a Volturi throw down so bad at the end. I was rooting for the shady Romanians to kick some ass.

I really don't know how I feel about the book overall. It almost seems...unnecessary to me in a way. Like maybe if Eclipse had some stuff added on or an epilogue, it would've made a pretty good ending. It wasn't too bad when I was reading it but when I go back over and analyze everything, it seems kind of just wtf worthy. Honestly, it's kind of weird that the book is so rushed yet it's like almost 800 pages. A lot of stuff in that probably could've been cut out or at least replaced with more explanations. Also, I felt like the story could've been told a lot better if it was written by someone who was more well-versed in like a horror genre or something like that. It was a bit much for Stephenie Meyer, I think.

I agree with your last paragraph so much! Especially the part about Eclipse.

I have to agree Jenna, more Jasper would have been cool XD.

I also agree with the imprinting thing, it seems like SM was trying too hard for everyone to have a happy ending. Cockblocked? LOL.

I don't really think Breaking Dawn was unnessasary, could you imaging the shit that would have started if SM had of left it at Eclipse? There would be uproar. But I think a lot of the stuff in BD could have been finer tuned/made better/cut out/explained more, a lot - if not too much - was left to your own imagination. Honeymoon anyone?
