Hi there. I'm Fennel, with the lj Kokibi. If you want to contact me for plotting or similar evil plots, feel free to drop me a note at Fennelcardi, my AIM oy by sending me a message.

Criticism is, naturally, fine too. COmments are screened, and I think I managed to activate anonymous comments as well. And, to make matters simpler, here's the awesome ( Read more... )

Okay so I noticed one thing about your Bern after paying attention that seems a little bit off.

You don't seem to have her cleverness down. And what I mean by that is that she's totally a manipulative bitch. She's likely to keep a lot of information to herself and play her cards just right instead of her explaining things to people right away. Bern will always keep her real intentions hidden until the very end, don't forget that that's a very important part of her. I just feel like your Bern is too open, I suppose?

Honestly I don't think you're doing as bad as people say you are. You have room for improvement but I have high hopes.

I know someone that plays an amazing Bern and she once wrote up some tips for someone else, I'll try to find that for you too since to me it's a must read for anyone who is playing her.

A fair point :)

I mostly tried to have her act a bit more like she does in episode 5 (where she is more open, going into rants about torturing or execution methods on occassion), so other players have something to interact with. But even so, what you say is true.

I try to keep her intentions of a posting hidden (that is, so far she has never mentioned her true intention, with the exception of one posting concerning Lambda), but it's not enough, I fear, and as you point out, it makes her appear more, well, not Bern like.

If you do find the tips, they would help quite a bit. Thank you for the offer, too. It's much appreciated.

Yeah, it's hard to balance how she acts in episodes 1-4 compared to how she starts to act in 5. While you can't forget about episode 5 you have to remember that in episodes 1-4 she's acting how she would normally act to someone she's never met before. Balancing that out honestly will be hard and will take some practice but I think you can get the hang of it.

I couldn't find it myself so I'll have to bother the mun to see if she has it the next time she's on.

I didn't mean to say you were wrong or anything. I know of it - I just failed at coming up with a way that enables me to actually interact in a meaningful way if I play her more in the way she acts in 2-4.
The main problem being that this is my only Mayfield character, and might remain so for a while (as I am unsure what other character I could apply, if any). That is why I am so interested in your aquaintance's notes, since it might help me getting a better idea of combining early Bern with a playstyle that nets some CR I can work with as a player.

Another thing. Where did you see 'the people' saying I was that bad? I mostly know of some anon in a meme, who seemd to have an issue with me and another player who has since dropped.
Were there other places I didn't spot? That'd be interesting, mostly since I could then also see what they thought I was doing wrong. ^^; Sorry to ask so much!

Oh no I didn't think that at all, you seem very open to what I'm saying.

I'd keep in mind that because Bern hates being bored she will pick out people to try to entertain her. Keep that in mind for trying to get cr?

No I was just referring to that one person since you seemed to take it personally and I think they were way too harsh.

anyways there's the link, I'm sure that'll be tons of help.

*nods+ Thank you. I'Ll see if I can manage to get some of this incorporated into my roleplaying. I definitely see the point of the openness.

It's really appreciated you took the time to do this for me :)
