Dream effects: Fear, sadness.
Warnings: Death. It's basically a Bad End dream, not totally something that had happened.
"We're leaving it to you! You're carrying with you the future of Mizuho."
A young version of Sheena shuffled up to the altar, all confidence. Her back was straight, her eyes were bright, and she was ready to face this opponent. What could go wrong? She could form pacts with the Summon Spirits, right?
But a voice broke her thoughts. "Well Sheena...say your vow."
"Yes, Chief."
Now was the time to do it. When she walked out of here, she would've made a pact with the Summon Spirit Volt. It took her a few seconds, and finally she made a deep breath, her brows furrowed in concentration as she spoke up clearly:
"I am Sheena! I seek to form a pact with the Summon Spirit Volt!"
This was so exciting. Volt...the Summon Spirit, really appeared! It would be one step in being useful to the village of Mizuho.
But that's when things went terribly, and horribly wrong.
"Is he...saying something?"
She couldn't understand him - whatever he was trying to get across. And suddenly, a lightning strike was hurled towards her. She brought her hands up, to hide her face...
There was a force that pushed her back, but it wasn't the one she expected. Her breath was coming out in small whimpers, one she was trying to stop. She was supposed to be brave, right?
But the things she saw when she looked up was another story.
There was blood...there was blood everywhere.
The dream started to fade, but it wasn't to one where she was beginning to wake up. No, it was shifting - instead of the people of Mizuho being dead, it was her friends. Nothing had changed.
She had tried, and she had failed.
They weren't moving. Corrine, Lloyd, Zelos...everyone.
She was truly alone this time. Their blood was on her hands once more - just like it had before. Why did she believe she could do this...why did she think that this time would be different?
A shrill scream escaped her as she put her hands to her face, trying to look away. But she couldn't. She needed to do something, but she couldn't. She couldn't move, she couldn't--
"We were supposed to fix things, Sheena."
It was Lloyd's voice. Sheena looked around for the source, but couldn't find it. Her hands clenched the sides of her head even more, her breath coming out in ragged gasps.
"I thought...you could do it."
This time, it was Colette's voice. Sheena couldn't figure out where the voices were coming from - she kept looking. But she kept hearing them nonetheless.
"I should have known better than to put my faith in you." Raine's voice.
"I believed in you, Sheena..." It was Corrine's tiny voice. Sheena looked down at the still form of the Summon Spirit and picked him up, trying to will the small creature to wake up. Corrine. Lloyd. Raine. Colette.
Why?
But it wasn't done yet.
"My life was a mistake. I never wanted to be the Chosen. Seles deserved it, and now...she can have that."
Zelos' voice. Sheena couldn't take it anymore. She brought Corrine closer to her chest and bent over, sobs making her body shake. It was all her fault, it was all her fault for all of this. If it weren't for her, nobody would've died.
What now?
The voices came back, repeating themselves, but they weren't alone this time. Along with the ones she heard before, there were more. The Chief, Genis, Presea...
She couldn't take it anymore.
"STOP IT!!"
[Sheena woke up with a gasp, and as she turns over to face the Dreamberry, light glints on a gem that had been implanted on her forehead. Was it possible to be even more tired, now?
Before anyone could see anything else (the tear tracks, the sweat that was running down her face), she reaches towards the device and turns it off.]
