This morning, I was watching the news, when Robin Meade announced that HBO was deleting a moment from the First Season finale: George Bush's head on a spike.
Apparently, they used a fake George Bush head on a spike for that scene when Joffrey taunts Sansa by showing her father's head on a spike. HBO says nothing was implied. It was just a head they had on hand. When I had originally watched that episode, I never even guessed it was George's. I was busy looking at Sean Bean's head.
I've just watched the DVD episode and there's no way to ID the last head on the left as George Bush's head. It's dressed in a scruffy wig and facing away from the camera. Someone in the props dept. must have spilled the beans. There's a traitor in the props dept? Probably a Lannister!
Actually, the head was identified by Benioff and Weiss in the episode's DVD commentary. The head was in a couple of beheading scenes, too. Apparently, they rented prosthetic body parts in bulk for the season. George's head just happened to be in that bulk load. Regardless, all future DVDs will have that shot removed.
