Bongo Bongo Bongo I don't want to leave the Congo, oh no no no no
Bingle Bangle Bungle I'm so Happy in the Jungle, I refuse to go
That was the day before yesterday.
Dear Diary,
Let us not speak of 'deployment'.
Cibola was an interesting introduction to leeches, killer humidity, panther-men, goat-women, GIANT goat-women, gelatinous shoggoths, and new levels of pits of dread in one's stomach.
Heulwen is a lovely young thing. There's a fine soldier in there somewhere. Wonder if it's possible to tease it out of her, even without a regular commission.
Lucretia is a marvel of practicality and resource.
I lost my second-best bow. Cyrus lost (temporarily, one trusts) the inclination to speak (bad, bad, bad). Benedict lost his calm -- never a good thing.
Packing the salt was probably one of the best things I've done in months. Never leave home (to go to the jungle) without it.
The trip home was harrowing, what between the sea and the worry over my prince and cousin.
Also I find that since the poodle hellhound incident, the sight of beetles remains off-putting, even if they are the prize we braved giant goat-women and gibbering idols for, and even if efficacious vs. the Black Road.
Interesting times.
cibola,
