Ladies and gentleman, I am a nerd. I've been a nerd since my sixth birthday, when I got my first Nintendo. I was a nerd when I traded that in for a Super Nintendo. I was a nerd when I traded that in for the N64, and that in for Playstation and computer systems. And of course, PS2 did nothing, if not cement my nerdiness.

Now, I've transcended nerd. I am the uber-nerd. Thus Spake Zerathustra Nerd. I am capable of (and indeed, not just capable, compelled to) tying just about anything back to a Final Fantasy game. I have an eerie recollection of X-Men plotlines, and a (not entirely healthy) lack of a discenable social life.

So, when I first heard of Cory Archangel, he was like an... well, like an angel. Cory Archangel, for those billions who have never heard of him (YET!) is a genius artist who takes what Andy Warhol did and makes it good. His art takes old atari and nintendo game cartridges and hacks into them to make them thoroughly unplayable and entirely beautiful. For example, Space Invander, one of his biggest masterpieces, has removed all but one of the invading ships from the classic game Space Invanders. Or take Mario Clouds, which has removed all aspects from Mario Brothers except the blue sky and the white clouds which constantly scroll by. Or "I shot Andy Warhol," a hacked version of Hogan's Alley, in which, instead of shooting criminals "players are asked to shoot various 8-bit versions of Andy Warhol, whilebeing careful to avoid other characters such as the Pope, Flavor Flav, and Colonel Sanders."
