Meme time!

Ask me a fandom-related question in the comments. This can be fandom specific, general, or about fandom/lj stuff/fic writing/etc. in general. Questions can be as wacky as you want. Ask me about tv shows, characters, fanfic, fandom meta, anything about any of my stories specifically. Whatever you want.

Only one question? Hmm. Here's a double-barreled one to start things off: what is the thing about fandom that annoys you the most? What is the thing that gives you warm fuzzies?

You can ask as many as you want! I don't mind.

Hmmm...lets see. The thing about fandom that annoys me first is when people are so insistant on their OTP that they try to push it on others, and get rude when you don't share the same opinion.

It gives me the warm fuzzies when I make friends through fandom that I would otherwise be without. I really don't have many friends offline, so that makes me feel good.

I am with you on the OTP front. Go down with your ship, but don't sink mine :p And yay for friends!

Hmm... Is there any fandom activity that you'd like to do but haven't done yet? Do you have a fandom-related bucket list?

Big Bang. I haven't done that, though I think it would be cool. I just started college, though, and don't have the time.

Fandom related bucket list? IDK. I do have a prompt list...things to write, ideas, etc. I guess I may have a mental one. There are things that I'd love to try writing. I guess I would have crossed the first one off my list when I wrote my Sam/Dean blood!kink piece. It was ALMOST PWP. But then I had to throw in a sentence or two where I explained that they were trying to fulfil each others kinks. Now, it's a verse in the making. I will eventually make one with one of Dean's kinks.

I'm trying to finish my first Big Bang now! Not that I'm trying hard though, since I'm cruising tumblr and spamming you. It's definitely a fun kind of challenge, and for me it's let me know the flaws in the way I approach fic. Mainly, I'm bad at finishing things.

Oddly, I had more fandom time when I was at uni than I do now I'm working a shitty full time job. Ah, student life. Man, SPN is so full of blood play and blood lust and blood kink. Well done for writing it!

How long have you been in fandom?

This fandom? Since early summer. That's when I started watching Supernatural, and absolutely loved it! Granted, I already knew and loved Jensen from Dark Angel.

Until I got my LJ account, I'd never been super involved in any fandom. I've been reading and writing fanfiction for at least a year now, but before that...not much. The closest thing to fandom I was in before that was when I was in a Carson/Michael group (Stargate Atlantis) on youtube, and we made videos and wrote fanfiction collectively in one post.

I've been in fandom for over a decade (I'm 23), and I always find other people's introductions to fandom really interesting. Lj in indeed a great facilitator.

Dark Angel, I loved that, though I only saw it for the first time last year. Jensen is stupidly pretty in that show.

Indeed he is. Did you see all of the show? Did you know he played 2 different characters?

Ben...kinda scary.
Alec...unf.

I really liked Ben, he was the right kind of scary, and I really liked how Alec had Ben-related issues. My favourite Alec scene was right in his first episode, where Max is crawling through her escape tunnel back into her Manticore cell, and the camera pans up to Alec sitting on her bed calmly watching her. Man, I think that's my favourite establishing shot of a character of all time. Alec was all kinds of unf.

Same here on the first two sentences.

I love Alec in The Berrisford Agenda, when he's playing the piano, and he is having flashbacks about Rachel. It's just so powerful to me!

And yes, Alec is all sorts of unf in his first scene.

I love that ep! Alec in glasses! Alec with feelings! Alec with guilt and repression and awww, the poor woobie! And I have such a kink for boys playing piano. There's a scene in season four of Smallville where Jensen's character plays piano while being smarmy at Lex Luthor. I keep meaning to watch that season for Jensen's arc but, hnnng, Smallville sucks so hard in s4.

I never really got interested in that show... My mom watched if for a while, so I saw a little, but I couldn't sit through it for some reason.

I think Jensen may have really been playing the piano. What do you think?

(OMG....the way his long fingers glided across the keys was perfection!)

I don't know enough about piano to know if the notes he was playing matched up with the keys he was hitting, but he certainly had piano hands, with the raised wrists and spread knuckles.

Smallville... I loved it when I was sixteen. But it never really lived up to it's potential, and continuity got spotty, and the plot got stupid, and oh man do I hate Lana Lang on that show. Supernatural reached it's potential and then kept going onwards and upwards, while Smallville never really managed to achieve a cohesive story arc (in the first four seasons, at least, I haven't seen past that).

Ah. Okay.

I just REALLY hope that by the end of Supernatural, they'll save Adam from Hell, and tell us what happened to Chuck.

I'd be happy just to have Adam be saved, though.

I blanked for a moment on who Chuck is. I'm a bad fan. I haven't seen all of season five yet (I am so bad at watching tv, it's ridiculous), but I know enough about what happens to agree with you - I want Adam and Chuck safe and happy (as happy as anyone ever is in SPN). I'd love to see Jimmy again, or Amelia and Claire. I love me some Novaks. Oh, I'd love to see Ava or Bela again, as demons or something equally awesome.

Chuck is the prophet (whose pen name is Carver Edlund) who wrote the Supernatural books. Sam and Dean (moreso Dean) freak out and confront him. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think that episode, The Monster at the End of This Book, was in season 4.

I didn't mean to spoil anything season 5, though. Sorry.

And I too love me some Novaks. OMG...Jimmy has a comm. It's called spn_jimmynovak. Theres a deecent # of fics with Claire and Amelia in them, too. I can rec you some pieces, too, if you like.
