Hello All!
First off, regarding college...
As a few of you know, I'm flying off to New York City rather soon (actually, a week before graduation), and I'm planning to make a little home for myself there for approximately two months. My mother has made plans for me to stay with my auntie and uncle (and my two most adorable little cousins ever!) in Queens. My other cousin, a kindred spirit of sorts, has invited me to slum with her on and off in Staten Island during my stay. I'm most excited about seeing Vicki. She and I mutually agree that we've taken very similar paths in life, and she has much to show me. Plus, she works in a sushi bar (fucking kick-ass!). Ahem, anyways, as far as plans are concerned:
A course or two at one of the many local community colleges.
I have an interview lined up at a dessert shop, and I'll probaly take up another part-time job if I can't work enough hours.
As for community work, I want to work with Food Not Bombs. I'm sick of people criticizing their efforts- people just need some fucking food.
And if all goes well, I might just stay in New York for the 2004 fall semester.
I haven't disclosed this to many people, especially because I'm already leaving a week early and I simply wouldn't come back during the summer. But it'll only be for months at a time, and most of my friends will be in the city by the time I return. They're going off by clusters around California. I won't be terribly lonely: my cousins will keep me company (I have so much fucking family in the city), Anna will be a train ride away, and various others will be around the east coast. I'm not sure whether or not Helen has chosen to go Oberlin...
And man, I just need a fucking change of scenery!
I've been delving deeper into depression amid all this uncertainty, and frankly, some people are driving me mad. I'm no longer counting on UCSC, because I'm probaly going to get my acceptance revoked. Too many complications regarding that matter, and it's been giving me a headache every so often. I might just go to CCSF and move in with a few friends spring semester. As for where I'll transfer to after, that, I haven't the slightest idea.
But !!! comes on my Winamp, and they always make me smile. How cool would it be to see Giuliani get down?
By the way, I hope everyone had a splendid 420. If you're interested,
THIS is how UCSC kids spent their afternoon.
