From what I've gathered in the overly biased pages of literature I have read, he had a choice. And his choice was this: 1. Get a new/good offensive coordinator and make some staffing changes to head in the right direction or 2. You're out. Because of his loyalty to his staff and players he chose the latter, or had the latter given to him as I feel it was not really his choice. As for the 10-2 season...I agree that it was quite the accomplishment, but not by Mike Shula. The Tide had an amazing defense that scored points when the offense couldn't. We had a very good team of seniors as well as the ever so loved Prothro that boosted energy as well as leadership on the field. Shula was no better a coach then than he was this past season, we just had more talent. So, perhaps the decision was hasty and perhaps Shula deserved better, but you can't run an offense the way he has since he has been here and expect the Alabama fan base and University to offer him another chance...

I think he is an amazing person, and I think he will be an amazing coach...I just don't think this University or this team was the right fit for his style of coaching. I respect him a lot for sticking to what he thought was best, but when we are losing games, we had no real choice in the matter other than the one we made. So, farewell Shula and good luck.

Here's to the future...hopefully a good coach will take on the challenge.
