CUTS
Hi guys. I decided to make a new rule about cuts. If your application is not under a cut, you will have two days to edit your post and put it under a cut. If it isn't under a cut in two days time, a mod will delete your application and if you wish you can repost it later, under a cut of course!
I think a common problem might be that people are copy-and-pasting the application into rich text, rather than html. The coding in the application won't work unless it is posted in the HTML box. This is what a lj-cut looks like <*lj-cut text="some words here"> except take out the asterisk.
If your application is already posted in "rich text" mode, and you want to put it under a cut, just click "edit entry." Then highlight everything you want to go under the cut and click the "livejournal cut" button, which looks like some lines and a zig-zag.
Thanks everybody! I know some people are new to LJ or not really tech savy, so don't worry about it, it can be pretty confusing! I'm just a neat freak sometimes, and like to scroll through the community and like to see everything nice and clean and hidden under cuts.
