Feeling grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrreat about your job?

Because I am!

So basically I do exciting things with contracts, i.e. I make them, print them, and mail them. Like I said, it's exciting.

It's also very well paid. No, there's no question, I get an amazing amount of money to perform a tremendously enthralling and dynamic job function. I am truly blessed.

I like to peruse job announcements not because I'd ever contemplate leaving my veritable dream of a job, but rather because I want to laugh at those less fortunate than myself, who must take lesser jobs not out of desire but out of pure unadulterated desperation.

Today, I found a job which I have reposted here for your amusement:

Project/Contract Administration Officer

Property Services; Housing Portfolio; Brisbane

  • Prepare, process and monitor contract payments in accordance with the contract, legislation, Department policy and procedures and ensure the Superintendent certifies payment to the contractor.

  • Co-ordinate the processing and monitoring of contract variations and claims.

  • Ensure any sub-contractor’s charges are processed in accordance with the Act and Department policy.

  • Ensure project data and financial records for projects are accurately maintained at all times in accordance with Quality Assurance procedures.

  • Manage through SAP the project administration processes of allocated projects for all stages of the project from project creation to financial completion and closure of the projects.

  • Research and provide advice to Project Managers and the Senior Administration and Reporting officer in resolving problems from the billing and financial systems within the Project Management System.

  • Maintain financial files for projects ensuring all necessary client and financial approvals are obtained, and a complete audit trail is maintained, for all financially approved budgets entered in SAP.

  • Develop, maintain and adhere to all Quality Assurance procedures relevant to the position.

  • Apply employment equity and workplace health and safety principles and practices whilst performing the above duties and responsibilities.

So basically exactly what I do but with a different accent.
Typical for Australia, no tertiary qualifications (university) are mentioned, which basically means they're not required. Part of the Brisbane City Council (Department of Public Works), which is kind of a nice way of saying hell would have to break loose before you ever lost this job.

Study and research assistance scheme to support lifelong learning. Regular training and development opportunities. Corporate Health Program including free flu vaccinations and discounts on gym memberships. Up to 12.75% employer superannuation contribution with a choice of superannuation types.

36.25 hour working week (7.25 hours a day), 4 weeks vacation a year, with more time available if you want to sacrifice a bit of salary. Oh yes, the salary. Per year: $55108 - $60597, which works out to $2112.30 - $2322.70 a fortnight. Total remuneration (salary, benefits, etc) is $62873 - $69135.

Gosh I love my job! I can't wait to go back!

whinging, work
