I haven't been online in AGES because I just moved to a new place where I don't have an internet cord yet, and Alex hasn't set up any of the new senators' logins yet, so I can't login at the office either (Dan's got cut off). Summary of all that's happened so far:
- I HUGGED BILL CLINTON!! How cool is that? (: I was at the very front and got to see him speak when he came to Davis yesterday...yay!
- Officially moved into 1010 Columbia Place
- Had my worst "I was still drunk the next morning" + hangover experience EVER (after shots & apples to apples at the boys' place)
- Bought gloves!! YAY
- Going to buy a touring bike to go biking w/Dan to Oregon & Washington this summer...whoo! 'training' starts this saturday!
If I had to pick one favorite memory out of the past few weeks since the quarter started, it would definitely be when we had a 'PIRG dinner' of sorts last week. We were getting back from a weekend phonebank and we decided to compile a bunch of food and all cook together. Margaret and I stopped by the Co-Ops and bought spaghetti, rice oil (I thought it was olive oil but apparently I didn't look closely enough...embarrassing!), bread, garlic, and butter, and we cooked spaghetti and meatballs and made garlic bread.
I think the reason it was my favorite memory is because of how homey it felt. I hadn't yet moved my stuff in at that point, but I'd been sleeping there for a while. Even though it was just Mike, Dan, Erin, Levi, Ramneek, Margaret, Rory, Hillary, and I, it felt like a big hectic family. I dunno. It's a bit hard to explain with words (or maybe I'm just too dumb? one or the other).
The funny thing is that I haven't even tabled that much for voter reg because I've been so busy with classes and other stuff. I also have realized I have a tendency to get distracted & drink to excess and then not wake up the morning after. Case in point: last night & the apples to apples night at the boys' house. Last night, Jessica (a new PIRG volunteer) came over, along with Levi, Arnold, and Mike, and we all played beerpong a LOT and I had some mixed drinks and shotgunned a beer for the very first time!
This morning, however, I woke up and my garment rack was broken (but still fixable) and I was wearing a (this is hard to explain) peice of blue cloth around my waist like a skirt, instead of my pajama pants. I found my pjs & socks lying in a wet heap (no puddle...???) on the ground in the kitchen and suffice to say I have NO IDEA what the fuck happened. Funnier story from last night: apparently Erin went into Dan & Ramneek's room, thinking it was the bathroom, and pissed on all of their newly laundered clothes.
Senate meeting tomorrow, we're honoring Leland Yee there so it's all formal and it's in the ARC Meeting Room #1. I've got a bunch of meetings to set up, most importantly with Paul, Matt, Jack, and I HAVE to go to the EPPC meeting.
So moving out was a very interesting process...we had to go back and forth about 1238947235 times before we finally finished. And even then, all of my kitchen-y stuff is still there. Mike, Arnold, Dallas, and Benny helped me out, and after helping me dis-assemble all my furniture and move it into the car (and playing a game of pokey pokey on the floor of my apartment) they all came over to 1010 to help me re-assemble said furniture, sweep the floor, move shit around, and then share the pineapple that Arnold got for Ramneek from Hawaii. Much fun was had, though it was v. tiring and I STILL am living out of suitcases (although yay, bed!!) I also got to see Allie again for the first time in fuckin' agessssss.
ANYWAY after that wonderful bout of word vomit, Tracey is done (for now at least). Hopefully this week I'll be able to get internets and update more. I love you all!!!
