I wish there was something magical I could say that could make it better but I know I can't. People who don't have cats don't understand how attached to them we get. I remember once a girl I used to work with, her dog ran away and people without pets were kinda like "big deal" and the people with pets would go to her desk and send her notes and everything till her dog came back. People without pets just don't get it.
Anyway, not really sure what to write, I just wanted to say this was a beautiful piece of writing and it made me cry. Sounds like Magoo was an awesome kitty and I admire you for doing the right thing instead of making her suffer through tests and stuff.
Cats all have personalities and are wonderful. Sounds like the three years you had with Nico were amazing and I'm sorry you couldn't have more.
So yeah, rambling me out. If I was religious or something, I'd say a prayer or whatever, but I agreed with what you said about her body: it was just a shell.
